When Angelick Host Entuned

To Us This Morn a Child is Born
To us this morn a Child is born, His Father is none other
Than God the King of ev ’rything, Maid Mary is His Mother.
When an Angelhost entuned Anthem sweet and ai ry
O’er the Child, meek and mild, Of the Virgin Mary;
from The Cambridge Carol Book,
’Twas in a Cave on Christmas Morn
’Twas in a cave on Christmas morn, Noel, Noel,
Jesus, the Son of God was born, Noel, Noel, Noel.
Then was fulfill’d the thing foretold, Eia, Eia,
In holy writ by bards of old, Eia, Eia, Eia.

Her Babe is Lord by all adored Isaiah had fore shown her:
Now came’t to pass that ox and ass Bow’d down a fore their Own er.
When, with honey, herd men brought But ter from the dai ry
To the One Holy Son Born of Maid en Mary;
See in a crib the heav’nly Child, Lul lay, Lul lay,
Cradled by Mary, Maid en mild, Lul lay, Lul lay, Lul lay.
Armies Angelic sang for mirth Cum Maria,
Marvellous glad o’er Jesu’s birth Ex Ma tre Maria.

When Herod heard the Mages’ word, He smote the babes asunder
In all that coast, ablame less host, From two years old and under.
When three pilgrim kings unlockt Each his casket, spary
Of nothing for this King, God, the Son of Mary.
Thither ward kings and herd men drew To Ephratha,
For to adore the Babe Jesu, At Bethlem Ephratha.
Glória tibi, Dó mine, Alleluia,
Qui natuses prohó mine, Alleluia.

Now, faithful quire, bless God the Sire, Bless God the Spirit Holy,
Bless God, the Sonere time begun, Now lain in manger lowly.
‘Glory be to God on high, God, who cannot vary!’
Was the lay on that day Sung by Blessèd Mary.
